Seizing Summer

Well, as August moves into full swing, it seems like summer is waning. The air is fresh, the breezes strong. All hints of the autumn to come. Still we are finding the heat. Still we are swimming. Still we are keeping warm.

Last week we went on a celebratory excursion. We set out for Wolfeboro, NH, a 12 mile trip, having no idea as to where we might spend the night. Along the way we met all sorts of nice folks. One group invited us to a brunch. Another invited us to use their mooring. And we had a lovely dinner to celebrate our anniversary (and my recent birthday) out at the Wolf Trap Tavern and Raw Bar, where we could sit out and feel the breeze overlooking a small marina. We ate Damariscotta Oysters, and had Beyond meat veggie burgers for the first time. The next morning we woke early to get a start before the expected storm, and stopped at Ragged Island, which is a park, and had a lovely time there, charging up the battery while we swam, paddled, and ate breakfast.

We also had our annual trip to Cape Cod so I have a few photos from that as well. Oh, and here is a link to a poem of mine that was aired on WCAI when we were there on the cape. https://www.capeandislands.org/post/poetry-sunday-carla-schwartz#stream/0

Hope you enjoy these photos.

Happy Summer to you.

The following photo of us it a selfie at Corn Hill Beach on Cape Cod, as the sun is setting.

Here are some photos from our recent adventure to Wolfeboro. We baked a blueberry pie (solar) along the way, and had wonderful food and gave some tours. The photos take us en route to Wolfeboro, and then back via Ragged Island.

Cape Cod Camping

I camped at Wellfleet Hollow for a night and here's what I found at the campground.

Cape Cod Friends and Family

We had our annual stay at Slough pond, and spend much of the heat wave in the water. We had lovely conversations and dinner. I also had the opportunity to take a great poetry workshop at the Fine Arts Work Center, and spend time with Family.  The photos start with Sunrise on Newcomb Hollow Beach. Then move to sunset on Slough pond, and there are sunset photos on Corn Hill Beach. There are photos of the family squid fest, and my cousin's pottery, which he has only taken up in the last year.
