Sizzling Spring Days

It's not summer yet but we are in the heat. That was when I started this post last week. Now it's cooled off and the last of spring is delicious.

Since my last post in March, I have had knee surgery and am in recovery. I made a couple of videos your friends who have had surgery or leg injuries might appreciate.

This one is for getting up and down off the floor with a knee injury.

This one is for getting out of a kayak.

We have been going back and forth to and from the island the last couple of months, and after surgery I have been pedal kayaking for pleasure and therapy. Finally I am swimming again as well as paddle boarding and working on bending and straightening my knee.

We also are managing two gardens and enjoying meeting up with friends post vax.

Here are some recent photos.

Enjoy. As always, it's lovely to hear from you.

Eclipsed Eclipse
We tried to catch the eclipse on the morning of June 10, but it was a bit too cloudy. Here are the results. I am including several photos, since the light changed with time.

Old Frog Pond Farm

Every year I have a chance to visit the Old Frog Pond Farm in Harvard, MA.  Here are some photos of the farm and of my visit there. I saw an eagle, a perched robin, and heard many birds, and saw snakes including a big garter hidden in the grass in a few photos. Also I saw blueberry plants in bloom, asparagus on the way out, and rhubarb, as well as raspberry plants and grapes and fruit trees.

A late March Trip to Newburyport, MA

We had the chance to head out to Newburyport for a bike ride on the trails there. While we were there, we encountered the Hillside Center for sustainable living, a "net positive" living community, which included a charging station at every parking space in the car port.

Camper Vans

We had a camper van conversion conference at our place.

Mass Central Rail Trail April 6

Before having my knee implant we had to have a preop exam near Worcester, so we headed to the Mass Central Rail Trail in W. Boylston for a ride. That was my last nonstationary bike ride so far (still not back on the bike yet). There the trail follows the Quinapoxet River, and you go by the ruins and site of an old mill.

Rocks

We had some rocks delivered so that we can fill in holes and fix some of our trails.

More Rocks

Claude loves moving rocks.

More Rocks

These rocks are cairns at the site of Thoreau's cabin at Walden poind.

Vaccine Pix

Where would this time be documented other than at a vaccination site. In the first photo, I am having my second vaccine. All the rest are from my first vaccine, to which I had to ride my bike since my car had broken down.

Hospital pix and Pie

Here are some pix from UMASS Memorial Hospital. the corridors remind me of the NYC subways. Also dawn the morning of my surgery, and my hospital room.
