So, it's finally here, the fall the autumn, the leaves are coming down, some have turned, some are holding on, just like some of the folks who hang on to the last days on Bear Island as most folks have packed up and left.
Since I haven't posted in a while, my photos display the evolution of the season. We are getting ready to close up shop, as have most of our neighbors already. This week was tricky, though, with the nor'easter having moved in, mid-week.
We are still swimming, though, and paddle boarding, and enjoying our autumn days. We have taken a couple of bike rides, and had some visits with family and friends.
We even had the chance to spend an overnight in the houseboat (with permission).
Now I see I have so many photos I haven't shown. Mushrooms (Henn of the Woods, Black Trumpets, and more) plus our nighttime interview with Marine Patrol (state police for the lake).
I have had a few poems published, so here are a few links if you are interested.

Also, here on this video you can hear me reciting a poem about Bear Island this month as part of the "rattlecast".

And Here's a link to a video I made about paddleboarding after a knee injury or surgery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYfelDKqnS0
As always, It's lovely to hear from you.
Enjoy the waning light, the falling leaves.
Lake Life
Here are some random scenes of our lake life. These include photos from my phone, as well as my camera and the waterproof camera. You can also see our pictures from our night out near ragged island and are meeting of the Marine Patrol boat, as well as our overnight near three-mile island. You can also see the work we did in sewing our own new Bimini for the solar-powered houseboat with materials and tools we bought through Sailrite.
Oh the Marine Patrol Boat. Claude had to wear his own PFD.

Hikes
Claude had the opportunity to do some long hikes in the presidentials and we had the opportunity to hike around our island, around Ragged Island, and around the conservation land near Bald Knob. On that latter hike we did find a nice chicken of the woods.
Claude's Latest Project--Heat Tape for our Water System
Claude re-plumbed all of our pipes so as to minimize the bends in them and then wrapped and insulated the entire system for those cold days while we are still around.
Mushrooms
The first two photos here are of a birch bolete. The next one I can't identify but found it first (two of them) in a field of stones. There are some hen of the woods photos. I received two batches as gifts and found one in Arlington, MA.
Visit with Friends
Some dear friends whom I have not seen in years came to visit us in our houseboat one brisk but sunny October afternoon.
Birthday Pie
Peach, strawberry, rhubarb pie.
Old Frog Pond Farm Poetry Reading
On September 12 I took part in a poetry reading at the Old Frog Pond organic apple, fruits and vegetable farm. Here are a few photos.
Some Carlisle and Boston Area Photos
Claude and I attended a wedding in early September, and later that month I took part in a book fair in Ashland MA.
